Interpreting the Group Item Analysis Report from the Iowa Assessment
Follow the steps below to perform a group item analysis.
Step 1. Order test bookletsOrder test booklets for the grade levels needed approximately two weeks before completing the item analysis by using the form below. Please send completed forms to mailto:cindy.slinger@dmschools.org. Note: the maximum number of booklets per grade level is ten.

Step 2. Distribute the printed (or electronic) item analysis report from the Iowa Assessment and the item analysis worksheetThe printed item analysis report from the Iowa Assessment was previously distributed to each building. The spreadsheet below contains a tab for each grade level with all tests listed. Make sure all participants have the correct grade levels and tests.
Note: Items in the spreadsheet are currently sorted by subject and standard. You may re-sort the spreadsheet in any way (for example, by subject and item number). |

Step 3. All participants watch the 10 minute training video
The presentation below walks participants through the process of reading and interpreting the item analysis report.

Step 4. Perform the item analysis process
In groups, participants follow the process described in the training video and interpret results.
Step 5. Return test booklets
Please return all Iowa Assessment test booklets within three weeks of receipt to Iowa Testing Program.
Step 6. Take action
Revise classroom instruction and assessment practices based on findings.
