Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium

Smarter Balanced is a state-led consortium developing assessments aligned to the Common Core State Standards in English language arts/literacy and mathematics.  Iowa is a governing state in the consortium.  If Iowa adopts the assessments, they could be implimented as early as 2014-2015.

National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is the largest nationally representative assessment of what students know and can do in various subject areas. Assessments are conducted periodically in mathematics, reading, science, writing, the arts, civics, economics, geography, and U.S. history.
