Our district will administer the Iowa Department of Education's Conditions for Learning Student Survey to grades 5 (elementary) students from Monday, April 30 to Friday, May 11 and grades 6 through 12 (middle and high school) students from Monday, April 16 to Friday, April 27. This survey is required by the Iowa Department of Education as a part of the state accountability framework for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). At least 50 percent of students must participate in the survey for the survey to be included in ESSA calculations. The full district administration plan including teacher and parent/guardian communications, the parent/guardian opt out, and survey administration recommended practices are located here.

Elementary Math Assessments: Changes for 2018-19
Based on input from the Elementary Assessment Advisory Committee, we will be implementing FastBridge earlyMath assessments for grades K-1 in the 2018-19 school year. This assessment just became available to Iowa districts through the AEA system at a reduced cost. earlyMath was selected as a district-wide math screener and progress monitoring system at grades K-1 due to the information it provides on foundational math skills. This assessment is administered one-on-one with students—like the earlyReading assessment, removing digital literacy barriers for our younger learners. We will start phasing out the MAP Growth assessment for grades K-1 in the 2018-19 school year. First grade students will continue with the MAP Growth assessment in 2018-19 to provide these students with continuous longitudinal data. Kindergarten students will not take the MAP Growth math assessment in 2018-19. More information on the FastBridge math assessments can be found here. |
2018-19 State Accountability Test
Governor Reynolds has signed a bill requiring Iowa's state accountability test to be developed by Iowa Testing Programs, starting in the 2018-19 school year. We will keep you posted as we learn what this means for us. Additionally, Iowa Assessment testing is happening now! Please see the Critical Iowa Assessment Information booklet for information about testing. Continuous Improvement Update

WAIT. WHAT?
Dear Data Diva,
It is that time of year where we are working on next year’s schedule. Unfortunately, my phone won’t stop ringing and people keep stopping by my office for one thing or another. I guess people really like me! How will I ever get my work done? Can my staff see the schedules I am creating? Since they are a work in progress, I don’t want staff to be concerned or confused about the changes I keep making.
Sincerely,
Pretty Popular
Dear Pretty Popular,
Do not worry about either situation--I've got a solution for you. There are two scheduling training sessions (April 11 and May 2) and four scheduling work time sessions (April 26, May 3, May 10, and May 17) that will get you out of your office and away from your phone. This will give you uninterrupted time to work on your schedules and have one of the Infinite Campus scheduling team members on hand to answer any questions.
As for the schedules themselves, your admin staff, counselors, and office manager/staff will be able to see 2018-19 information. There are a few others in the building that might have access based on a submitted rights request. Teachers cannot see the 2018-19 year until it becomes active, which happens around July 1. Families and students will not see schedules until 2018-19 is active and the building requests the Infinite Campus team to display the schedules on the portal.
As Always,
Data Diva
