Enrollment Trends Up at DMPS
Enrollment trends are positive for the Des Moines Public Schools.  The district  student count increased by 78 from 2016-17 to 2017-18. We have experienced 7.4 percent growth over the last ten years.  One of the fastest growing populations within DMPS are English language learners, a population that has grown by over 60 percent in the past ten years.

Gallup Q12 Employee Engagement Survey Results
All supervisors with 5 or more direct reports will receive an email from Gallup around December 8 with instructions on how to access their Gallup Q12 employee engagement results online.  Gallup will be onsite December 13 to review results with leaders and supervisors.
Infinite Campus Help Document Library
We continue to add to the collection of DMPS-specific documents with the Infinite Campus help area.  Recent additions include a list of bilingual family liaison contacts for translation assistance and the multi-post function in the grade book. To find the DMPS help articles, click on the help icon at the top-right corner within Infinite Campus and search for "DMPS".

Winter MAP Growth Testing Opens TODAY
Winter testing runs today through January 12.  Grades 2-10 need to be tested in reading and grades K-10 need to be tested in math. The complete guidebook to MAP Growth testing is located here. Some important reminders about testing:
  • Proctors need to log in with their teacher credentials to all computers that will be used for testing and allow computers to update.
  • MAPACCPROXY log in does not provide appropriate, individualized accommodations for students needing accommodations.  It only allows a screen reader to function during the test session.
  • The Reading and Math K-2 tests include audio so students will need headphones-ensure the volume is set correctly and the headphones are working before students log in.
  • Proctors need to ensure the student sitting at the computer and the student’s name on the screen are the same during testing. It is possible for a student to test under another student’s name.
  • If proctors have technology issues during testing, please have them contact your Network Instructional Technology Coordinator even if the issue is successfully resolved.  We know many test administrators and building test coordinators have been “trouble shooting” technology issues (like white screens, students getting kicked out of testing, etc.) very successfully but we would like to document these issues so we are better able to work them out.

Dear Data Diva,  My spring schedules are set. However, what tools are available to identify high school students not on track for graduation who may need a change to their spring schedule?  --Proactive Problem-Solver

Dear Proactive Problem-Solver,
In addition to the multi-year academic planner (MYAP) in Infinite Campus, we have a credit acquisition dashboard. This dashboard applies to high school students only.
You can filter the dashboard to identify students deficient in credits by subject and course. Below the summative dashboard, you will find a student list with each student's credits and a link to their current schedule. The dashboard will be updated to reflect credits earned this fall semester after January 12.
As Always,
Data Diva
