Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP)
A Canvas course has been created to provide guiding documentation for testing procedures, creating test schedules, and testing windows. Training videos are also available in the course for test coordinators to review the content that was shared at our first session in January. Our second sessions will begin on February 11th. These sessions will focus on what test coordinators and teachers will need to know to administer the online tests through Pearson. The intended audience for these sessions is test coordinators. After the second session, coordinators will have the resources they need to prepare staff for the upcoming assessments. The sign up for sessions is located here, all sessions will be held in conference room B at 2100 Fleur. ELL Testing: ELPA21
Between February 5 and March 8, DMPS English Language Learners will be taking the English Language Proficiency Assessment for the 21st Century (ELPA21). Make ups (if necessary) will occur between March 11-29. ELPA21 Building Test Coordinators are ensuring all ELL students are in the Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE). Please let Vinh Nguyen know if any ELL students are missing from TIDE so he can enter them into the system. ISASP Observations
We plan to conduct at least 30 classroom observations of ISASP administration this spring to help in refining test administration guidelines/best practices for this new online test. School test coordinators and principals will be contacted in March to set up times for observations. We appreciate school staff member's willingness to help in collect information that will enable us to better serve all schools. |
ESSA Data Review
We will engaged in the ESSA data review with all schools at the February 20 District Leadership PLC. The ESSA data review (required for schools identified for comprehensive or targeted support) will be conducted within the context of the DMPS Continuous School Improvement Process. In the data review process, school leaders will be examining data from their school's Iowa School Performance Profile and the DMPS School Performance and Equity Profile and then engage in collaborative inquiry to draw inferences from the data. Observations from the ESSA data review will be analyzed along with SAMI (Self-Assessment of MTSS implementation) information and end of year data in the summer to inform action planning for the 2019-20 school year. Thanks to the staff at Moore engaging in the ESSA data review early, we learned that our time at Leadership PLC will be best utilized if schools pull the data from their Iowa School Performance Profile before arriving on February 20. We will be emailing principals in the next week with a 15-minute activity to bring to Leadership PLC. Completing the activity before Leadership PLC will protect our time so school teams can stay focused on conversations about the data instead of merely pulling data during our time together. MAP: Individual Student Goal Setting
We are getting a common question: Which growth target should be used, fall to spring or mid-year to spring, when setting spring individual student goals on the MAP? Please see this short FAQ for guidance. For full information on best practices around student goal setting on the MAP, please view this short webinar. Continuous Improvement Update

WAIT... WHAT?
Dear Data Diva:
I'm drowning in paper forms! How can I streamline all these pieces of paper so I don't have to collect forms every week?

Dear Paperless Patty,
Fixing your paper problem is a cinch! Almost all paper forms can easily be converted into an electronic version. And the added benefit is that once the form is converted from paper to electronic, you have access to all the submissions in an electronic database. This database can easily be extracted, filtered, etc. for whatever purpose you require. Funny thing, we actually have a form to complete for you get a form! Once your form request has been submitted, we can assist you with creating the form in either Formsite or Qualtrics! Click HERE if you want to submit a form request.
Sincerely,
