Annual Infinite Campus Rights Reset: August 16
Access to Infinite Campus for 19-20 will be assigned based on the staff member’s job code and location assignment.  Here’s what you need to know this year:
  1. User right annual reset will happen on August 16, 2019.  All users will be assigned consistent rights aligning to the job duties associated with their job code. Starting the process on the 16th allows the system to work with the new teacher contract dates and allows time to correct systematic errors in the automation before all staff return to the buildings.  All staff who utilize Infinite Campus will receive a notification of the user right annual reset.
  2. Some staff may experience a loss of access.  Any job duties assigned to a staff member which go above or beyond the normal duties associated with a job code will be lost. For example, a nurse typically does not handle attendance at the building level. Any nurse that had attendance rights prior to August 16, 2019 will no longer have these rights.
    1. In the event a staff member loses access necessary to their assigned duties for your building, complete the IC User Rights Request form found in Infinite Campus > Electronic Forms > Administrative Forms.  The form will be available for submission on August 16 at noon. For auditing proposes, this is the only way rights will be adjusted. Email and phone requests will be redirected to the rights request form, which could result in delays in processing your request.
    2. Please verify with the employee that they have actually logged into Campus, changed to the active year (19-20),  and not been able to access the missing functionality before submitting your request. For the 18-19 year, there were 125 submitted rights requests in the first three days that were not a rights issue.  The staff member already had the requested rights.  This is 25% of ALL requests submitted for the year.  Researching these requests takes time away from true rights issues.
    3. Additional rights request MAY require training. This training may be offered via a Canvas module or at a face-to-face training.
  3. District level staff not assigned to a specific building in IFAS are being handled in a separate process after August 16. This includes English learner, Special Education, traveling music teachers, nurses, and gifted & advanced learner staff. Staff in those departments will be submitting the location information for their staff via Qualtrics by August 11.  This information will be uploaded into IFAS prior to August 16.  They will have access to Infinite Campus, but may not be able to see all their buildings immediately on the morning of the 16th.  Staff whose forms are submitted after August 11th will not have immediate access to all their buildings.
  4. Any access granted based on special training sessions (i.e. – survey, messenger, Ad Hoc), will be preserved and will not need a rights request.
  5. AUP Employees will see a short delay with the rights reset.  Each AUP employee must have a current 19-20 approved application on file.  If not, rights will not be reset on the 16th. All others who do have an approved application will have their rights reset manually after the automated process is complete.  The goal is for all AUP employees (School based therapists, I-Jag, SRO, SECs, AEA, etc.) to have they access reset by noon on August 16th.  All AUP employees should have received information from HR in June instructing them on completing the form. If they need to complete a form for 19-20, they must call CSD for a network request form at 242-8161.

Updated Elementary Testing Windows
We recently discovered that the Iowa Department of Education changed the FAST testing windows at the end of May for the 2019-20 school year.  We are changing fall and winter FAST and MAP testing windows so that FAST testing will occur within the state-approved window.  Here are the changes to the testing windows:
Fall:
  • FAST: 9/9 to 9/20
  • MAP: 9/23 to 10/4
Winter:
  • MAP: 1/2 to 1/15
  • FAST: 1/21 to 1/31
The full elementary testing schedule is located here.
Test Coordinator Training: Preparing for Fall 2019

2019-2020 MAP Testing Change: Rapid-Guessing Test Invalidation

MAP will re-introduce the rapid-guessing test invalidation rule for Fall 2019 testing. You can expect improved features for increasing student test engagement, better access to information on tests invalidated due to rapid-guessing, and in-product training and support.
Students will receive a message at the start of the test encouraging them to remain engaged. When students rapid-guess, proctors will be notified, and the test will auto-pause so the proctor can re-engage the student and resume the test. After the third auto-pause tests will be stopped, and students will need to retest.
To better support retesting processes, educators, including proctors, will have access to reports showing students with invalidated tests due to excessive rapid guessing.

Updated FAST Dashboard
We are working to streamline the FAST dashboard by incorporating both reading and math results into one dashboard.  The new dashboard is located here.

WAIT...  WHAT?

Dear Data Diva:
Could someone please remind me when we set the Iowa Assessments in the calendar for next spring. I’m trying to put together a calendar and prepare logistics schedules.
Signed,
Being Proactive

Dear Being Proactive,
The dates for ISASP administration will be as follows:
Elementary Schools:                  March 30th, 2020 - April 10th, 2020
Middle and High Schools:          March 25th, 2020 - April 10th, 2020

Once the school year official begins, we will be working with buildings to design a schedule with specific days and times.  It’s important to get input from schools when designing this schedule so don’t be surprise if we reach out for your assistance.
Sincerely,
Data Diva

Spotlight on This Month's Data Diva

April Murray
I joined the Assessment, Data and Evaluation team in the fall of the 18-29 school year as Assessment and Data Project Specialist.  When I am not working on special projects in the ADE department, I have assisted with the launch of the new Iowa Assessment (ISASP), school improvement efforts, and the district’s continuous improvement initiative.  On a personal note, I love spending time with my family, husband Quintin, daughter Qierra (23) and son QC (14).  I enjoy reading and listening to my vast Prince vinyl collection.  My husband and I enjoy watching our children play their favorite sport, basketball and we all enjoy traveling back to our home state of North Carolina.
